What is a Replicated Website?

Before the days when search engines penalized for sites that were identical to each other (duplicate content), someone came up with the bright idea of creating a website and selling it to many people, all of whom could load it onto a server and earn from AdSense. Search engines didn't like that, since the sites were all the same. So they started penalizing for duplicate sites. This kind of site is no longer registerable - search engines won't even index you, so your primary source of free traffic is shut off.

Along about the same time, Distributorship companies started doing the same thing - automatically generating identical replicated sites for their distributors. A few still do that, but most simply use an affiliate program setup - you don't really get your own site, you just get a tracking URL that takes your visitors to the primary company website where visitor activity is tracked by cookies. Distributorship sites have other problems too.

• You cannot customize them. No unique content. Hurts your ability to market it, and keeps you from gaining the only true edge that a distributor can have online. That is, putting some of yourself into it, in the design and text.
• You cannot put links on them - no link exchanges. They aren't hugely powerful anyway, but once in a while you can get a good one that gets you decent traffic. But since there is no place to put the traded link, you're out of luck.
• Many small sites where you could advertise free have rules about distributorship company sites. Not allowed. They only allow it if you really own the site.
• Company sites do a poor job of selling. You can't just send people there, you have to presell them. You can't do that unless you have a site that you can personalize.

To get around those problems, you must have a site that you can truly make your own. You must be able to put links on it, put your bio on it, tell people why you like the product and make it something more than just the company line. People aren't just attracted to a company, they join under a distributor because of the personality of the distributor. Show that, or you won't be able to compete!
